After a brief orientation in Rabat, we went to our training site, where we met our host families. We lived with them for three months while studying the Darija language and Moroccan culture. Every day, we would walk from the classroom to our host's house to join the family for meals and conversation (which was inevitably about the tasty cooking)... as a result, our food vocabulary is excellent. Notice the fleece jacket and scarf... Morocco is fairly cold in the winter (temperatures can fall to the low forties), and most houses have no central heat. Our short-sleeved host brother has better circulation than we (and he had just emerged from the warm kitchen)!
