Oualidia

Morocco never stops surprising us. A recent Peace Corps meeting was held at the small coastal town of Oualidia. It is about three hours by bus from Casablanca, and appears to have been mostly overlooked by European tourists. In the hot summer months, Moroccan families may rent a villa in this town to enjoy the cool Atlantic breezes. Its rocky formations along the shore are very reminiscent of the Maine coast... only the water is much warmer! Fishing is still a mainstay of the local economy, and Oualidia is famous for its oysters.
