The fifth assignment was to write about a feeling, and then create an image related to it. We were a bit apprehensive about presenting a vague topic, but as always, the students had no hesitation in interpreting the theme. Some renditions were uncomplicated, others were very philosophical, and required some explanation. Below are some examples. We are very impressed with the intrepid focus of the students. None has ever done a collage before, and art has never been in their curriculum. But they have an amazing confidence in taking on this new medium, and are not constrained by a sense that they should create a "pretty" picture. The images are evolved, sophisticated and reflective.
