We were fortunate to meet a local farmer who has not only worked with other volunteers, but has also been a language instructor with the Peace Corps. His village is situated near a robust rivulet, so unlike many areas of Morocco, his crops and olive trees thrive with a predictable source of water. The wheat in this photo was just about to be harvested... while the olives were at the other end of their cycle... the young fruit just becoming apparent as small green globes. In spite of the summer heat, Moroccan agriculture is incredibly productive.
